SCHOOL
BUILDING
We strive to advance education by constructing, repairing and operating schools in Haiti.
SCHOOL BUILDING.
Between 2019 to early 2020, the Foundation has raised $56,000 CDN - enough to build 2 classrooms and an administrative office/staffroom. An additional $197,104.50 CDN is required to build an additional four classrooms, a kitchen, (many of the children are too poor to bring a lunch), a cafeteria and washrooms to provide the children with a safe, seismically sound environment that is conducive to learning. During 2021, with the continued limitations due to COVID-19, fundraising efforts were significantly slowed and the foundation relied heavily on private donations, two on-line auctions featuring artwork donated by budding artists and another featuring household items, and a Chocolate Basket Raffle. Proceeds amounted to just over $5,000. Fortunately, the school construction was able to continue in Haiti and the second floor was poured, windows and doors were installed in the existing classrooms, washrooms were erected and the foundation for the kitchen and cafeteria were also dug.
It is the foundation's continued insistence that 100% of all funds raised for this project go to the cause. The materials and labour, sourced locally, serve to stimulate the local economy and put local people to work. There are many connections that make this the type of project that our supporters will find compelling.

Bikes for Bricks program supports our mission to raise funds for the building of a school in Haiti. The event is an 8-hour spin-a-thon where teams work together to raise money. During our inaugural event Bikes for Bricks raised $20, 000 and in 2022 we raised over $40,000.00. The fundraising for the school continues as we aim to raise $200,000 to complete the school.

Cooking Demo Haiti Forward was thrilled to team up with Sonia Verrilli-Jabon from Beets and Biscotti Wellness! In a fun and informative Zoom demo, Sonia shared some special Haitian recipes, passed down to her by family, to support the continued construction of the school. This year's event raised over $5000.00. Look for future virtual cooking classes.
